Updates

We try to make updates as easy as possible for our customers. In most cases, you will be able to perform updates in less than a minute by using our included Update Device. This tool does all the hard-work for you and installs the latest components directly into your existing filing system.


Received an Update

If you received an update, refer to the following guide to see if you're eligible to use the included Update Device:

Updating from v2.2+

Good news! You're eligible to use the included Update Device!

  1. From the latest release package, locate and rez the following items near your existing Notecard Filing System:
    • MoreThanPixels: NFS - Update Device [vx.x.x]
  2. Click your Notecard Filing System and select ADMIN / Run Update.
  3. If the Update Device was found, you'll receive a dialog prompt to install the update; select INSTALL to start the installation.
  4. Wait patiently for the update process to complete. On average, this process takes less than a minute.
    • Once the installation has concluded, you will receive a dialog with confirmation.
  5. All done! Your system should now be up-to-date. Happy filing!

Updating from v2.1.3 or earlier

The following steps will guide you through the process of setting up a new filing system, and then transferring all of your files from your old system to the new one:

  1. From the latest release package, locate and rez the following items near your existing Notecard Filing System:
    • MoreThanPixels: Notecard Filing System
    • MoreThanPixels: File Transfer Utility Device
  2. Obtain the system keys from both Notecard Filing Systems:
    • Left-click the outdated Notecard Filing System and navigate to ADMIN / MY KEY. The key will be provided in your main chat.
    • Left-click the new Notecard Filing System and navigate to ADMIN / My key. The key will be provided in your main chat.
  3. Left-click the File Transfer Utility Device and select Get Started.
    1. Copy & paste the outdated system key into the textbox and submit.
    2. Copy & paste the new system key into the textbox and submit.
  4. The file transfer process will now start. Wait patiently for this process to complete.
  5. Once you've been notified that the file transfer has completed, check your new system to ensure that all of your files have been transferred.
  6. All done! You can now remove the Utility Device.

Bug Fix There were times that the back-up feature would randomly fail to initiate, forcing the user to have to restart the back-up process.

Bug Fix The Password Authentication HUD was failing to deliver to users that requested it.
Bug Fix User permissions were sometimes incorrectly applying the permissions, preventing users from being able to perform certain actions.
Improvement If a user with viewing permissions has added a new file to the system that matches the name of an existing file already in the system, the user will be provided the option to view the matched file. The user can then decide to add the new file or replace the existing file with the new one.

New Password protected files now make use of the Password Authentication HUD instead of authenticating via the web portal.
New A new notification sound has been implemented for when new files have been added to the system by a user.
Improvement We've redesigned the * System Manager configuration to make it easier to individually list users.

Change We revised the "Shortcodes" feature by removing what we considered to be the least popular Shortcodes and have kept the two most common — "Category" and "Password".
